Candle care is essential for ensuring the longevity, safety, and optimal performance of your candles. Follow these candle care instructions to make the most out of your candle-burning experience:
- Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) in length. A longer wick can cause uneven burning, excessive soot, and flickering flames.
- Place on a Flat, Heat-Resistant Surface: Always put your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Avoid placing it on materials that could be damaged by heat or catch fire.
- Keep Away from Drafts: Drafts can cause candles to burn unevenly and produce more soot. Place your candles away from open windows, fans, or vents.
- Burn for Adequate Time: Allow your candle to burn for enough time to create an even wax pool across the surface. For larger candles, this may take a few hours. This helps prevent tunneling, where wax remains at the edges, wasting some of the candle.
- Avoid Burning for Too Long: Don't burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Excessive burning can overheat the container and may cause the candle to crack or become unsafe.
- Extinguish Safely: Use a candle snuffer or carefully blow out the flame to extinguish the candle. This helps prevent hot wax from splattering and reduces the risk of accidentally blowing the wick off-center.
